Food Truck Owner Poll: How much do you pay your line cooks?

With the mobile food industry continuing to grow we are constantly on the look out to assist both the owner operators as well as the customers of these rolling bistros. From time to time we run polls to gain industry information that truck owners can use to help better their customer service and the options that they provide to the communities that they serve. Other times our polls are set to find out general information “we” want to know.

In this poll we are interested to knowing how much food truck vendors pay their employees who work work in their food truck kitchens. The line cook is an important position within a mobile food business as they are your front line staff that feeds and protects your customers from food borne illnesses. With a poorly paid staff, a vendor can find their food comes off the line inconsistently and recipes not followed. This can lead to poor reviews from your customers as well as bad word of mouth being spread within the ranks of culinary professionals who may or may not apply for future open positions.

Richard is an architect by degree (Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, Michigan) who began his career in real estate development and architectural planning. In September of 2010 he created Mobile Cuisine Magazine to fill an information void he found when he began researching how to start a mobile hotdog cart in Chicago. Richard found that there was no central repository of mobile street food information anywhere on the internet, and with that, the idea for MCM was born.
