I have read several articles that say that mobile food trucks are on their way out. That the novelty is over. How many of you agree with that?

I couldn't disagree with that more. Maybe in some cities there has been a saturation of food trucks, and their numbers may drop, however there are so many cities that haven't even to begun to enter the industry. There are cities scattered throughout the country that are now just getting a taste of what food trucks can provide them. This will lead to many more people joining the industry.

Basically, the industry is 3 years old...it's not a fad...it's a trend, and like all trends it will change. In the next year, I would imagine we will see the industry do some changing, but on the way out? No way.

Most of the people who I have spoken with are not yet informed about the high class food trucks. They still think of the old construction site roach coach when a food truck is mentioned. When these people sample the outstanding fare that is now available from these wonderful chefs they invariably become fans.

Absolutely Mark. The fact that so many people aren't even aware of the modern food truck means that there are still a majority of people across the country to add to it. Just because these new trucks have been around some areas for 2-3 areas does not mean that the entire country knows about them.

Give them time...the industry still has a huge way to go before it jumps the shark.

Hello out there in food truck land! My husband and I bought a food truck in Bardstown, Ky. That's about 20 miles from Louisville, I don't know about other cities but Louisville is just getting into the swing of things; even the Mayor is allowing us to get together once a month and line up down a street in downtown Louisvile and everyone sold out by noon last month! We are very excited about our new business and food trucks are here to stay! Our new food truck is called Gourmet Cafe...Look for us on the streets of Louisville and Fairs and Festivals! When I lived in Los Angelos for 30 years, the Taco Trucks were very popular, this has evolved into every kind of culinary delight; from a food truck. Yes, I agree; give them time the whole world will be excited about food trucks! But if you want to get involved you had better have about $75,000-100,00 to invest, you won't be successful immediately, but it.s a BLAST! Sandy Gilbert Gourmet Cafe Food Truck

Food trucks are not a trend anymore, the Tampa Florida area is growing with trucks and trailers, we have events all around the bay area.

Like my son says SERIUOSLY Knightwing I don't know where you read your articles or your perspective I would hope you know that just because someone writes an article on there "opinion" and posts it online that does not make it true Hello! you are on a forum on a whole site dedicated to mobile food business . Having said that, I realize as a (professional in the industry for 20+ years) that a truck and some food and a truck is not all it takes to succeed of course. It only takes a little research to find out that putting food on a truck or a cart is far from a "new" idea what is new is the way we look at them both as consumers and as people in the industry who love what they do.It is truly a revolution for forward thinkers and Foodies everywhere ! Hello to the last poster I am also from Tampa and you are right the mayor Bob Buckhorn has his own rally monthly. I have teamed up with http://www.Champion Cheesesteaks.com which was founded by Roy Brostrand in 2010 who already had built a chain of successful Philly Cheese steak brick/ morter stores with this growing trend focus on putting out the best steaks(real ribye steak ,amoroso rolls, the best equipment as well as strong marketing and branding by social nmedia. And getting out to the people. WE are all on a learning curve but we certainly be will be well fed very well !!) look for Champion on the streets of TampaBay And over the next few years, we will expand the Champion Fleet of Food Trucks to other major cities throughout the southeast, as well as nationally and internationally (England). So keep your eyes peeled for one of our Red and Black food trucks. When you can hear the steak sizzling, you'll know.
