I am an American living in Europe. The food truck revolution has not hit Europe yet (in general), but I think certain cities are prime for it. The city where I live just got its first food truck. I have wanted to start my own food truck here for at least a year but am too caught up in my day job (in tech) to make this leap.
But after reading the news today about the first "US-style" food truck, I think it is time.
Now what?
If I do this I plan to quit my job, and go full out working hard every day to launch my first truck. I have some business experience as well, and alot of marketing experience so thats good. I love to cook but am not professionaly trained and dont know how to mass produce food yet. This is one of the many things I realize I will have to learn.
I will purchase the following books as a start:
http://www.amazon.com/The-Food-Truck-Handbook-Business/dp/1118208811/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343384628&sr=8-1&keywords=food+truck
http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Idiots-Guide-Starting-Business/dp/1615641629/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1343384628&sr=8-4&keywords=food+truck
http://www.amazon.com/Start-Your-Food-Truck-Business/dp/1599184141/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1343384628&sr=8-6&keywords=food+truck
Do you recommend any other books?
Another Idea I had was to take a couple of months in the US, and work for a successful food truck. Possibly arrange with the owner a bit of training on the business. Do you think this is necessary? I am a bit of a perfectionist so I want to learn how to reach the high standards of US food trucks as early as possible.
