  12. If you haven’t had the Carmen from Dia de Los Tacos, your frame of reference is off! This taco rules!!!

  13. There is probably only one food truck in the world that people will stand in line, day or night during the dead of winter in far below zero weather and that is Dia de los Tacos in Marquette, Mi!

  14. LLOYD’s, there is just no other!

if you are in the Buffalo area, find them at #whereslloyds
They are terrific and the tacos…Just try one and you will see why they are loved!!

  15. LLOYD IS BY FAR THE BEST!!! Buffalonians will travel anywhere for Lloyd. Always makes me happy to see that big green truck

  16. Dia De Los Tacos in Mighty Marquette Michigan. I recently drove from Detroit to eat them (and explore some ice caves!)!

  17. Dia de Los Tacos are a joy to have around in this town. They have great food with local ingredients served with a smile.

  18. I’m from California and I’ve been to Mexico, but the Baja Taco Truck in Boston has the best darn burrito I’ve ever had in my life. Sabroso with guac for life!

  19. […] Honourable Mentions: Dan Ackroyd was spotted sampling shellfish at Rock Lobster; Ben Mulroney loves the tuna tacos at One; and Bar Isabel celebri-chef Grant van Gameren is moonlighting as a model for Roots. Also, St. Catherines food truck El Gastronomo Vagabondo has been nominated alongside 14 U.S. trucks for the title of 2014 Food Truck Taco of the Year. (They’re currently in 5th place—vote them up here.) […]

  20. Ok, by now, everyone knows that Pete, Christopher & Teddy (& crews) have CHANGED THE CULTURE of a ridiculously “slow-on-the-uptake” city of Buffalo! Now let’s be fair, there are maybe a few other trucks & owners who are doing nice things…….but LLOYD is so “Out of this World” you need to put a trip to the “Queen City of the Lakes,” Nickel City, Buffalo, NY on your “bucket-list,” & find one of their three (3) trucks…..where’ I rest my case!!!!

  21. Definitely Lloyd’s Taco in Buffalo. You’ve never had a burrito or taco like theirs – they have a cult following here, and for good reason. Their food is always fresh, super flavorful and just the right mix of spicy deliciousness. And they’re all really friendly. We’re lucky to have a lot of great, fresh, hand-crafted artisanal food here in Buffalo, but Lloyd’s takes the prize for mobile offerings. First Prize to Lloyd’s!

  22. Baja Bryan’s tacos come straight from the generational recipe of a wonderful woman whom he befriended in San Diego…I am bold enough to say, that I bet his are even better! All fresh ingredients – and I love throwing the fresh guac and hot salsa into the mix! Yum.

  23. I just ate at Dia De Los Tacos today. I had the Carmen and the Terri Lynn. Both were amazing! The crunchy slaw gives these tacos something extra special. Go DDLT!!

  24. A taco contest and you have ZERO trucks from the South West? YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!

This is a farce. Trucks from Buffalo and Missouri have the lead? Nothing but a local popularity contest.

Nobody voting here has even tasted the other trucks’ food, so they’re just voting for their own town / city / region / state.

    • Hello Capt. B.A. Obvious: It is more about community supporting local small business than anything. Of course, no one has tasted all of them. I would be willing to bet that none of us are food critics either. It is a fun way to support your local community and give these small business some free marketing, as well as promote the food truck industry. No need to be such a naysayer, it is a silly little contest for fun and to help these start ups grow.

  25. C’mon everyone out there…. Vote for El Gastronomo Vagabundo, the number 1 food truck in Canada. If you haven’t had Chef Adam’s gourmet tacos, you haven’t had the best…

  26. No really…What the Fork? No, I’m saying the winner should hands down be what the fork. Sriacha slaw, candy sauce…PULLED PORK…sweet potato sticks…Mouthsplosion…So good. Plus, their other stuff is super rad, as is the truck design, and the people. Best food truck in the world in my opinion.

  27. Lloyd taco truck. I had a Reuben taco there today and my life has been changed forever. I can’t describe the deliciousness I experienced this afternoon!!! Go Lloyd’s!!!

  28. Where else would people stand out in -30 degree zero with wind chill warnings waiting for tacos and selling out the taco truck early? Only in the U.P. Go Yoopers!! Dia de Los tacos deserves this win 100%

  29. Something is fishy with the box of chacos numbers. I don’t care who else wins but from 3% to 1000 votes into first in a day does not seem right at all. Where were their votes earlier?

  30. […] Brice BurgeManaging EditorDia De Los Tacos (DDLT) is a finalist in the 2014 Food Truck Taco of the Year. As of publication, DDLT was tied for first place with 895 votes, 25 percent of the total voting […]
