charlottesville vaCHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Charlottesville City Council approved the ordinance that articulates rules for mobile food trucks to do business in the city. Mayor Satyendra Huja and his fellow city councilors have approved a revised ordinance that will regulate food trucks.

The zoning ordinance keeps mobile units off residential and private properties unless a special use permit is acquired. Food trucks must also keep a distance of 30 feet from established restaurants and seating will not be allowed.

Each business must be in compliance with health department codes at all times.

The city’s old rules only covered ice cream trucks.
