food trucks at disney

Last month Disney announced its plans to transform Downtown Disney in Florida’s Walt Disney World into Disney Springs, and rumor has it that the overhaul will include food trucks. “Once complete, Disney Springs will expand from 75 to more than 150 shopping, dining and entertainment venues, featuring some of the world’s most iconic brands and restaurants,” Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Saggs said in his statement. The statement did not name which restaurants or retail partners would be involved. However, the photo above was leaked on the unofficial Disney World fan site WDW Magic in early March. And It shows potential restaurant partners for Downtown Springs alongside a logo for a “Food Truck Row.”

The Daily City’s Kevin Storey reports that “on the local food truck front there has been a major backlog for truck build-outs as one of the main food truck builders has a supposed mystery client who has rush ordered 10 highly themed food trucks.” The Orlando Business Journal notes that “Disney could have a hand in the making and branding of the trucks.” While it’s nice to see this food truck addition, we’d prefer to see the amusement park reach out to the existing food truck owners around Orlando to set up up their mobile food line up.
