While food trucks in Pensacola, FL still struggle with the restrictive regulations keeping them away from the beaches, vendors could soon have the ability to operate on Santa Rosa Island.

PENSACOLA BEACH, FL – Rules governing food trucks in Pensacola Beach parking lots will be at issue in an upcoming meeting of the Santa Rosa Island Authority.

SRIA members questioned food truck regulations in a meeting earlier this month during discussion about a food truck vendor who had set up shop in the parking lot of the Sandshaker Lounge and Package Store on the beach.

Sandshaker owner Beverly Campbell said that she did not want to make a public comment about the issue before the Island Authority considers the issue during its regularly scheduled Wednesday night meeting. The popular beach bar does not serve food.

Paolo Ghio, executive director of the Island Authority, said officials shut down the food truck operation because it did not have the proper permits.

Ghio said other vendors have permission to operate small concession trucks on two beach parking lots.
