CLEAR LAKE, IA – The city of Clear Lake plans to form an ad hoc committee to explore guidelines for food trucks.

Mayor Nelson Crabb said the city has been approached by individuals wanting to sell outside of Chamber of Commerce or service group events.

Council members Monday night said they’d like the committee to set parameters such as locations, hours of operation and trash disposal. A minimal license fee may also be required.

Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce CEO Tim Coffey said he’d be willing to seek feedback from established local restaurants on the matter.

“We don’t want to tilt things in favor one way or the other,” he said. “Other communities have tackled this and we can, too.”
