LOUISVILLE, KY – Food trucks have been a part of the Louisville food scene for about three years, and those in the industry are optimistic that the growth will continue.

Friday was food truck Friday outside the KFC Yum! Center on Main Street in downtown Louisville.

The center, as part of its efforts to attract people to the plaza outside the arena, will invite two food trucks each Friday during September. They will park along Main Street so customers can come by and have lunch between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“They have sent out e-mails to all of the downtown buildings to come over and get some local food truck food,” Tammy Boutiette told WDRB News.

Boutiette is the owner of Booty’s Diner food truck. She started her food truck business in 2011 as an expansion of her catering operation.

“Business is awesome,” she said. “The people in the city love our food trucks.”

She says she travels all over town.

“People and companies invite us to big company picnics, employee appreciation days, and we can pull up on any corner and people are walking up and ready to eat,” said Boutiette.

Brittany Bullock was one of a number of customers who showed up on Friday. It was the first time she had done business with a food truck.

“I like it,” she said. “It is close to work and it’s quick.”
