PHOENIX, AZ – Phoenix fire crews were able to prevent a food truck fire from burning down a nearby building on Monday morning.

Captain Aaron Ernsberger said a Ralphie’s Snack Bar food truck caught fire around 6 a.m. near 7th Street and Buckeye Road and threatened the building it was parked in front of.

Firefighters used hoses to stop the fire from moving and then extinguished it, he said.

Passing traffic was blocked from entering the intersection. Drivers crowded a Circle K parking lot to bypass the closure. All roads were reopened by 7 a.m.

The driver of the food truck noticed smoke coming from the front of the vehicle as she was driving down Seventh Street. The engine caught fire as she pulled over.

Julian Trujillo, a mechanic for Ralph’s Snack Bar, said the driver tried using water and a fire extinguisher to squelch the blaze, but the flames spread too quickly.
