SPOKANE, WA – A food fair on wheels will soon have a permanent home near Sprague and Perry.

Crews are currently in the process of developing a year round food truck park on the corner. Spokane’s Food Park is set to home to eight to ten food trucks. The sign currently reads “Sprague Food Park” but the word Sprague will be changed to Spokane.

The owner John Shriner said he envisions it being similar to a mini Pig Out in the Park.

“I think it’s going to bring the community together and it’s going to help the Sprague area,” Shriner said. “We want to create a lot of pedestrian foot traffic. If you do that, you’ve got shops visited more. I think it’s a good thing.”

The park will be open year round, according to the owner, and it will feature a heated area where people can come feast in the winter. Shriner said there will also picnic tables.

Shriner is still ironing out all the details with Spokane leaders. The food park is slated to open in early 2015.
