NEW YORK, NY – A family of Brooklyn taco makers that serve nacho typical Mexican fare was crowned the king of New York street food Saturday at the 2016 Vendy Awards.

The home-style Oaxacan food prepared at the Soriano family’s Tacos el Ranchero drew mouthwatering raves from the highly-discerning Vendy judges.

“It feels amazing,” co-chef Dennis Soriano said after winning the coveted Vendy Cup.

Soriano and his brother Nelson cook up the tacos, homemade salsa and handmade tortilla along with their father Felix, a former dishwasher who grew up in Oaxaca, Mexico.

“We put so much work into it,” Dennis Soriano added. “Last night we did not get any type of sleep just prepping for this event.”

More than 1,500 foodies turned up at Governors Island to sample the street fare prepared by 26 of the city’s top vendors.
