Recover From Social Media Blunders

tip of the day

One of the key benefits that the mobile food industry has found in social media is that your messages can reach more people faster. Coming along with this advantage is that your mistakes can too.

Whether you accidentally tweet an insensitive message or a customer posts a disparaging review about your food truck or the food you serve, don’t panic. The key is to leverage the misstep to your advantage. The same medium that made your mistake wildly visible can help broadcast your apology. Don’t attempt to manipulate the truth. Be up-front about the mistake and apologize. When everyone can see what you’re doing, you need to act with transparency, honesty, and credibility.

Richard is an architect by degree (Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, Michigan) who began his career in real estate development and architectural planning. In September of 2010 he created Mobile Cuisine Magazine to fill an information void he found when he began researching how to start a mobile hotdog cart in Chicago. Richard found that there was no central repository of mobile street food information anywhere on the internet, and with that, the idea for MCM was born.
