Women make up 47% of the US workforce, but they are still a long way from equal pay even though the gap has narrowed in recent years. For many women, equality is still just a word that doesn’t apply to them. Despite laws being passed regarding equality of work and pay, and many other aspects, there is still a huge gap in equality in total compensation between men and women for similar roles.

Whether you are an activist, feminist, or just want to be heard, I have the perfect slogans that stress the importance of gender equality. Let’s make equality our reality this generation.

Gender Equity Statistics

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, it is a necessary to create a prosperous, sustainable, and kind world. Believe it or not, gender equality benefits the corporate bottom line too. The advancement of women’s equality has been estimated to increase Gross Domestic Product globally by $12 TRILLION if the gender gap could be narrowed.

Some gender equality organizations fear the effects of the health crisis could reverse the limited progress in gender equality according to the United Nations. “Limited gains in gender equality and women’s rights made over the decades are in danger of being rolled back due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” the UN Secretary-General said in April 2020, as he urged global governments to ensure women were at the forefront recovery efforts.

Women have also made gains in educational attainment compared to previous generations. Today, women are more likely than men to have completed a four-year college degree with 38% of women completing their degree, compared to only 33% of men.

Unfortunately, the “Double Shift” system continues to weigh heavily on women who work with 54% of American women having to do the housework when they get home. This is compared to around only 22% taking on the same responsibility. Even as primary income earners in the household, 43% of women are still end up doing all or most of the housework compared to just 12% of men.
