AIKEN, SC – Aiken City Council has passed final reading of a food truck ordinance that rolls out the policy for mobile food vendors and no longer prohibits ice cream vendors from operating within the City.
Second reading of the ordinance was passed unanimously with amendments at Monday’s City Council meeting.
Councilwoman Lessie Price was absent for the vote.
Under the ordinance, mobile food vendors are allowed to operate on private property with the property owner’s permission and where zoning allows an eating establishment, according to City Planning Director Ryan Bland.
They must possess a business license and meet requirements of the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.
