Los Angeles voters have three candidates for its 4th district City Council seat: Tom Labonge, the incumbent, Stephen Box and Thomas O’Grady.

Mr. Labonge, incumbent, has served the City of Los Angeles as a Councilmember and a Council Deputy since 1976. He was elected to his first four-year term in 2003 and second four-year term in 2007. In 2001, Tom won handily after a special election to represent the people of the 4th Council District. His priorities as an elected leader include public safety, neighborhood preservation and enhancement, improved transportation systems, mobility, public safety, expansion and improvement of parks and open space and beautification.

Mr. Box, an entertainment industry professional, producing commercials and film. He writes for CityWatchLA, LAStreetsBlog, and Transit Coalition. His company Third Eye Creative provides branding, marketing and communications services. He has served as a director for Habitat for Humanity and as a workforce development instructor.

Mr. O’Grady, after studying industrial engineering he settled in New Jersey, where he bought and renovated property. Tomas is currently the president of Friends of TS King Middle School and serves on the Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council.

Stephen Box has gone on record about the mobile food vendors stating that “LA’s Food Truck phenomenon is part of our unique street culture and it is an expression of mobility that brings our streets to life.” Based on Mr. Box’s open support of the thriving gourmet food truck industry in the Los Angeles, we endorse Mr. Box for City Council in Los Angeles’ 4th District.
