Tater Tots Keep Sticking Together in the Fryer
Quote from robert usa on Oct 15, 2024, 12:59 pmHELP! I’m desperate here. Every time I drop tater tots in the fryer, they immediately clump together into one giant blob, and no matter how much I shake the basket, they won’t separate. What am I doing wrong? I’m losing my mind over this!

Quote from dana the taco on Oct 17, 2024, 5:45 pmI feel you, this used to happen to me too with my Mexican-style tater tots. Two things might be causing this:
- Crowding the fryer: If you’re dropping too many tots at once, they won’t have enough space to fry evenly, so they clump together. Try frying smaller batches and make sure the oil has room to circulate around the tots.
- Oil temperature: If your oil isn’t hot enough (should be around 350°F), the tots won’t fry quickly enough, and they’ll stick together. Double-check your temp and let the oil heat back up between batches.
Both of these fixes worked for me and made a huge difference. Give it a shot and let me know how it works.
