AMARILLO, TX – Foodies, take heed: “The Great Food Truck Race” is heading back to Amarillo.

The Food Network reality competition show will once again film in town after a successful stop three years ago.

“They loved Amarillo (in 2012), and that’s why they’re back,” said Eric Miller, director of communications for the Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council.

“It’s pretty amazing because we don’t have a big food truck scene here.”

An unknown number of trucks will roll into town Friday to begin filming, then open for sales and the in-show competition on Saturday and Sunday before wrapping up Monday, Miller said.

“It’s up to our contestants where they go,” producer Mike Sullivan said.

“They’re always on the move, so you’ve got keep up with them on Twitter.”

The trucks aren’t allowed to discuss the competition or even say that they’re taking part in a TV show, but the publicist for Postcards Soul Food Truck emailed the Globe-News to say, without any specifics about the trip, that the truck was part of “a caravan (of) gourmet food trucks” traveling to Amarillo.
