WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – A food truck crashed into a tree with a beehive in West Hollywood, leaving four people trapped inside the truck as angry bees swarmed the scene.

The food truck crash was at 1200 N. Doheny Dr., just north of the West Hollywood city line, according to Los Angeles City Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart and county fire Dispatch Supervisor Robert Diaz. That location is in the steep hills above the Sunset Strip.

Three patients were trapped in the truck, but were extricated in critical condition and taken to trauma centers, Stewart and Diaz said. A fourth victim was taken to a hospital in serious condition, according to Stewart.

A sheriff’s deputy who responded to the scene was stung by a bee and had to be taken to the hospital after suffering an allergic reaction.

The location of the crash is in the steep hills above the Sunset Strip, and not on the famed thoroughfare itself. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
