AURORA, CO – Operators of a burning food truck in Aurora escaped injury but saw their dreams destroyed while investigators on Sunday tried to verify the cause — apparently an engine problem.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, an Aurora Fire Rescue crew responded to the fire near the intersection of East Alameda Avenue and Crystal Street. Flames had engulfed the front end of the blue-green Chapina La Mexicana truck.

The operators called 911 and got out as flames spread inside the mobile kitchen, according to a Facebook posting by owner Fernando Rodriguez seeking financial help.

“We had just stocked up with supplies, filled the tank, even upgraded our fridge and stove,” he said.
