BOSTON, MA – Boston lunch patrons have gotten used to seeing food trucks on most of downtown city blocks, serving up everything from tacos to Thai. Now, a first-of-its-kind “training truck” could be the next type of truck pulling into Boston.

Culinary training and staffing company Snapchef said it plans to launch a “Fast Track Culinary Truck” that will travel around Massachusetts and Rhode Island, serving food while training people to work in the food industry, from hotels, corporate cafeterias, sports venues, and restaurants, which are struggling with a shortage of qualified workers.

Food trucks are becoming big business in Boston. Along the Greenway alone, in the summer of 2015, more than 640,000 patrons were served by food trucks, up from 412,000 the prior year. Several of those trucks have opened brick-and-mortar stores downtown as well.
