TACOMA, WA – Bates Technical College has added two new programs designed to meet employer demand.

The Tacoma college revitalized its Accounting/Bookkeeping program for online learning, with opportunities for students to meet with the instructor in person. The new structure will make it easier for working adults, or those who prefer online learning, to earn a degree that will help them pursue a career in high demand, the college said.

Bates will also roll out a Mobile Food Cook certificate, which allows students to work in the college’s new mobile food truck. Students participate in a variety of courses that range from cost control and menu development to business plans for mobile food service and employment preparation.

The 35-credit program will equip students with basic cooking skills, and prepare them to obtain the necessary permits to operate a mobile food service business. As part of the Culinary Arts program, Mobile Food Cook will provide students with the option to continue their education and earn an associate in applied science in culinary arts.

Registration is open for these programs and more, and classes start Sept. 22. Call 253-680-7002 for more information, or visit www.bates.ctc.edu/InformationSession.
