    Pretty simple and basic for someone very familiar with insurance so I will agree with you on your major points, especially "make sure an insurance company will be available when you need them" since both the agent/broker and the company are important to consider. The agent/broker may have a website that permits access during closed-hours and that could be a significant advantage but my emphasis will also be on the AM Best/Standard & Poor's rating of the company insuring you since the capacity/ability is part of my definition of being "available".

    I agree, any time your truck is down, maintenance, repairs, accident affects your business. It is lost revenue , and affects your day to day profit.

    A great insurance policy backed up by an even better insurance company can make a difference. However, having a knowledgeable insurance agency that will answer and explain every question and insurance coverage you have, will make it a partnership experience. You have to feel that your insurance agency cares a lot more than just your policy, but also your business.
