SAN DIEGO, CA – Some of San Diego’s best food trucks served up tasty dishes Tuesday as a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels.
Fifteen food trucks parked at Kearny Mesa Subaru, offering everything from fish tacos to grilled cheese sandwiches to delicious desserts.
Twenty percent of the proceeds from Tuesday’s sales go directly to the Meals on Wheels program. The organization feeds about 1,200 seniors a month and for some, the meal deliveries are their only contact with the outside world.
“We’re visiting them every day, making sure they’re okay, that they haven’t fallen, that they don’t have any medical crisis and just spending some time and talking to them,” Debbie Case of Meals on Wheels said.
Meals on Wheels estimates they raised about $2,000 during Tuesday’s fundraiser.
