After Three Year Layoff San Antonio Food Truck Comes Back To Work

SAN ANTONIO, TX – One of the original players in the San Antonio food truck scene is making a comeback.

Dominic Chacon has resurrected his Toastie Buns business, which catered its last event in 2014 at the AT&T Center. It returns to the scene noon-4 p.m. Sunday with an appearance at Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling, 4834 Whirlwind Drive.

“In the past month, I’ve been pumping up the return on social media, and this weekend, chef Dom is going to be back serving those gourmet cheeseburgers,” Chacon said.

When the mobile food scene started to heat up in 2011, Toastie Buns was part of the initial wave. The truck was there for the opening of the since closed Boardwalk on Bulverde food truck park, and Chacon said it was the first mobile specialty burger operation in the city.

“We lucked out to get in when we did,” he said. “I still run into people that remember us from there.”
