NEW YORK, NY – New York City is partnering with local food truck operators to provide hot meals at disaster relief sites.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the initiative involves the city’s Food Truck Association and the Food Film Festival.
On Tuesday, the trucks were at relief sites in Brooklyn and Queens, and on Staten Island.
The effort supplements the 1.4 million ready-made-meals that have been distributed over five days. Individuals, nonprofits and other businesses also have been pitching in.
The food truck relief program is sponsored by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City. The fund is raising private money for storm relief efforts.
