CHATTANOOGA, TN – City Council members sped through their agenda Tuesday, completing all formal business in 19 minutes.

Among items approved by the council was an ordinance to extend a policy pertaining to food trucks, defining them as units that “must be mobile and on wheels at all times during operation.” That includes trailers used for cooking, which must remain attached to towing vehicles at all times.

The ordinance, which was discussed at length by members of the downtown development community and food vendors over the past two weeks, also states that vehicles operating under a special event permit or a waterfront concession agreement are exempt from parts of the ordinance. Events include happenings such as the Chattanooga Market, Nightfall and weekly lunch events featuring food trucks.
