Des Moines is expanding their food truck pilot program shortly after implementing it. To us we’d rather see the city drop the pilot portion of the program and make it permanent. The only reason this type of quick change happens is when the public is fully behind it and there is no proof of negative effects…in Des Moines, you have both.

DES MOINES, IA – On Monday night, the Des Moines City Council approved an expansion of the food truck pilot program.

“Parks are already a destination for people to get out in the middle of the day, get some fresh air and enjoy their lunch. It’s a good fit,” said Jen Fletcher, Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department.

The expansion will allow the trucks to operate at six parks within the city. Those include, Greenwood Park, Ashworth Park, Union Park, Grandview Park, Ewing Park, and MacRae Park.
