PENSACOLA, FL – A Food Network reality TV show made a stop in downtown Pensacola on Wednesday to film an upcoming episode.

“The Great Food Truck Race,” which is filming its eighth season, pits teams of food truck owners against each other in an effort to win $50,000 and a new food truck.

The episode filmed in Pensacola is expected to air in late August or early September.

In recent years, food trucks have been a contentious issue for the Pensacola City Council, which has failed to pass a food truck ordinance multiple times, leaving the industry unregulated in the city.

Mayor Ashton Hayward, a supporter of food trucks, said he hopes “The Great Food Truck Race” choosing to film in Pensacola will show the potential the businesses have in the city.
