Florida Foodies came out in droves to experience
FOOD TRUCK WARS II, which was held on July 15th at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida, was a thing of beauty as droves of Foodies converged on the park to sample delights from 40 of Florida’s Finest Gourmet Food Trucks.
FOOD TRUCK WARS, now in existence for less than one year is breaking some serious records for gathering Food lovers. The concept, born in September of 2011, has opened a virtual “Pandora’s Box” for food lovers, with its gathering of food trucks for what has quickly become one for the record books. Food Trucks from throughout the State compete in six food categories including: Top sales, Truck appearance, Largest single food item, Delectable Dessert, Culinary Chef Off and the prestigious Peoples Choice Award.
Awards for this round went to:
Top sales – Claw Daddys
Truck appearance – Joji Yogurt
Largest single food item – Philly Grill on Wheels
Delectable Dessert – Ice Cream Social
Culinary Chef Off – Palate Party (whose owner was seen on Hells Kitchen recently)
Peoples Choice Award – Dimples Delights
In addition, the Altamonte Springs / Seminole County Optimist Club in conjunction with the shows promoters were able to raise some much needed funds to support the City’s’ local charities.
The phenomenon of Gourmet Food Truck rivalry (all in the name of good fun, of course) has been a Huge Hit. At the inaugural event in March 2012 an estimated 30,000 people turned up. 37 food trucks sold out of food completely. This one wasn’t much different. Hordes of people showed up in the torrential downpour that ensued shortly after opening and stayed until the sun came out.
“It was a site to behold” said Liz Otts, President of Food Truck Crazy, Inc “We love bringing the community together for such a wonderful event. It brings back great childhood memories. And, Food Truck Wars III will be event better”.
