ST. PETE BEACH, FL – On a narrow 3-2 vote on Tuesday, the commission gave its final approval to allow mobile food trucks to serve the public in some areas of the city.

The new ordinance would allow the trucks to operate up to three days a week as a conditional use only, subject to possible restrictions added by the commission.

Each truck would have to be approved individually by the commission.

The food trucks also would be restricted to the city’s downtown core districts, including Corey Avenue, Blind Pass Road and Gulf Boulevard in the hotel zones, and would be required to park on improved surfaces.

Commissioners Ward Friszolowski and Melinda Pletcher voted against the ordinance.
