HOUSTON, TX – Police say a food truck vendor was shot during a robbery attempt in northeast Houston.

Officers arrived around 2:30 a.m. Thursday in response to a reported shooting near the intersection of Euel Street and Elysian Street. They found a man with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.

Police say the man was selling food and drinks out of his truck outside Club Gator on Elysian Street when at least one person threatened him with a gun and tried to rob him.

Although the vendor was able to get into his truck and drive away, a suspect shot the vendor as he drove away.

The food truck vendor crashed the truck, which caused the vehicle to flip over almost two blocks from Club Gator.

Officers arrived after the suspect or suspects were able to run away from where the shooting took place.

Police are searching for the suspects.

A note from Mobile Cuisine: This isn’t the first attack on a mobile food vendor, nor will it be the last. Please be careful when you are out on the streets. Unfortunately, there are many parts of the country where it is not safe.
