ithaca public worksITHACA, NY – The Board of Pubic Works continued its discussion of a proposal to establish food truck roundups in the City of Ithaca at its meeting April 1. During public comment, members of the public expressed concerns about how food truck roundups might impact brick and mortar restaurants. Mayor Svante Myrick (no relation to the Mobile Cuisine Editor) acknowledged the need for a policy for food trucks in the city, but he explained he viewed the roundups as different from a blanket city policy for food trucks. He said he viewed the proposal of roundups as more of a special event.

Other members of the board continued to express support for the proposal, but agreed they want more clarity on the fees for the events. The board also agreed that the city’s Special Event Committee should weigh-in on the proposal before it moves forward.
