SAN MARCOS, TX – Food truck owners say they are being forced to leave San Marcos due to new strict health code regulations adopted by the city of San Marcos. A food truck park called The Hitch announced late last week in a blog post that it would no longer be a venue for food trucks.

“A common thread has been uncertainty regarding their ability to continue to obtain a permit to operate from the City’s Health Department,” reads the blog.

The Hitch, located at 312 E. Hopkins St., has been open since 2011 and quickly became a popular eating and meeting spot for locals and college students. Since 2011, The Hitch has welcomed more than 20 food trucks. On Monday only three trucks remained — all closed.
