SHERMAN, TX – Sherman restaurants are loving their food trucks nearly nine months after the city first passed an ordinance allowing the mobile eateries to hit the streets.

Sherman Director of Communications Nate Strauch said three restaurants – Cackle and Oink BBQ, La Placita Salvadorean Kitchen and CJ’s Coffee Cafe – are currently rolling around the city in their food trucks and there are at least that many, if not more, working through the application and getting themselves into the proper gear.

“There has been a tremendous amount of interest,” Strauch said. “When we first passed the ordinance, we weren’t exactly sure what kind of pent up demand was out there. What we have seen, both from people who don’t have stand-alone restaurants and from individuals who already own restaurants and want to add an outreach element through a food truck, has really surprised us.”

Strauch went on to say that the presence of food trucks in Sherman is indicative of a level of growth within the city and it appeals to the changing tastes and expectations of residents.
