St. Louis, MO – In 2010, Pi Pizzeria launched St. Louis’ food-truck boom with its Pi on the Spot truck. Yesterday, the restaurant announced that its truck will end its regular operations on Tuesday, July 31.
We’ve enjoyed bringing our Pi to guests who couldn’t otherwise enjoy Pi in our full-service restaurants during their lunch hour But now we want to re-focus on the Pi experience in our brick-and-mortar operations. Especially with the recent heat this summer, we have realized there are too many factors in mobile operations that can compromise our guest experience and the comfort of our team members.

Our trucks have been incredibly successful as business development tools, allowing us to confirm a market for Pi in Downtown St. Louis, as well as building a loyal fan base in DC before we ever opened the doors of our Penn Quarter location. But we now have a dine-in restaurant on Washington Avenue in the Mercantile Exchange of Downtown St. Louis, and our DC restaurant is far exceeding our expectations. We plan to continue this method of brand-building in future markets, but it’s time to double-down on our success in these and our other full-service locations.
Thanks to everyone who has supported our truck operations the past 2 years! We are so fortunate to have such loyal guests both at our trucks and in our restaurants. We also greatly appreciate all the media and blogger attention given to both PiTruckSTL and PiTruckDC these past 2 years.
