If you are one of the last hold outs that still think that food trucks are a fad that will disappear as quickly as they came onto the US food scene, once again, we present you with a story that shows that you are wrong.

GLEN ROSE, TX – On Friday, Jan. 22, the Glen Rose High School hospitality and tourism class threw down in a six team food truck challenge, which had students preparing everything from steak fries to mango smoothies.

GRHS’ family and consumer science teacher, Jill Lawson started the competition five years ago as an assignment that has the students conceptualize a food truck from beginning to end. The high schoolers have to come up with a name for the new business, the type of food they would sell and menu items. They also need to create an effective market strategy to lure customers in.

This year, Lawson had the students build a scale model of what their food truck would actually look like.

The students’ flare for food creativity was on full display during the competition.
