LONGVIEW, TX – Vendors, downtown workers and tourists are applauding a municipal plan to boost mobile food options in downtown Longview at all hours of the day.

“It’s a great idea,” Dallas resident Liz Eskew said of a city of Longview plan to allow mobile food trucks to serve customers at Heritage Plaza during peak weekday hours, and along two downtown streets during nights and weekends.

The tentative plan calls for allowing food trucks to use parking spaces along Green Street at Heritage Plaza during the peak hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. On weekends and after 5 p.m. on weeknights — called off-peak hours — the city would allow food trucks in parking spaces along Fredonia and Center streets between the Gregg County Courthouse and the Cotton Street parking lots south of the railroad tracks.
