If you missed it, The Great Food Truck Race season 6 episode 2 aired last night. Here’s the recap.

SPOILER ALERT AHEAD!!!

The show starts with the contestants in Flagstaff Arizona.

The Great Food Truck Race season 6 remaining teams are:

  • Diso’s Italian Sandwich Society(New York, NY)
  • GD Bro Truck(Orange County, CA)
  • Pho Nomenal Dumplings(Raleigh, NC)
  • Postcards(Los Angeles,CA)
  • Spice it Up(Phoenix, AZ)
  • Waffle Love(Provo, Utah)

Chef Florence kicks the episode off with another quick fire test. The teams are to sell their signature dish. The team with the highest sales would be declared the winner and would be awarded a 1 hour advantage in sales the following day.

The teams jumped to it with $200 of seed money.

Waffle Love (last week’s sales leaders) did it again with a great day of sales ($1,189).  Not only did they win this quick fire but they won a one hour advantage at their next stop.

The teams headed to Sedona, AZ early and Waffle Love chose to use their time advantage to shop for supplies instead of getting to selling immediately.

THE GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE TRUCK STOP:

Chef Florence called the teams and announced that the truck stop challenge was to cook up a dish using a local rattlesnake/rabbit sausage. They needed to head to a popular tourist spot and sell their products from Pink Jeep Tours instead of their trucks. The teams would have to use their sales to pay back the $100 in product, but the remaining cash would be doubled by the show for their till totals.

Many of the teams struggled, but Waffle Love struggled the most. Not only did they not make enough to break even, they were 10 dollars in the whole, which ended up as $20 removed from their till total.

After the challenge, the teams had time to hit the streets and sell from their normal menus. Everyone had issues finding foot traffic to sell to, and some trucks ran into the issue of Sedona being a very vegan friendly town, so a number of the trucks had to turn away customers who wanted a vegetarian option.

After the day was over, bright ad early, the teams lined up to get the results from Tyler Florence as he announced their totals.

  • Spice It Up $5,279
  • Waffle Love $4,864
  • GD Bro Truck $3,470
  • Postcards $3,209

The week’s elimination came down to Pho Nomenal Dumplings (two weeks in a row at the bottom) and Diso’s Italian Sandwich Society. The difference in sales was a mere $15.  Unfortunately, their bad luck in finding customers led to Diso’s being eliminated.

Next week’s stop? Santa Fe, NM
