What menu items have been discontinued at Denny’s?

Some of the discontinued items at Denny’s are due to the recent pandemic. While some locations offer some of these items like the Sizzlin’ Supreme Skillet, it could be awhile until these are officially brought back on the menu.

Brooklyn Spaghetti and Meatballs

A controversial discontinuation, fans of the Brookly Spaghetti and Meatballs even set up an online petition to bring back the beloved dish without luck. In my humble opinion, Denny’s has made a huge mistake on this one. The dish features three huge seasoned meatballs resting on top of spaghetti pasta moderately covered in tomato sauce and sprinkled with some cheese. The meal came with a side of Italian cheese and dinner bread. Denny’s came close to authentic Italian spaghetti with this dish and explains why it’s been sorely missed by fans, including myself.

Fried Cheese Melt

Denny’s take on the grilled cheese sandwich features four fried mozzarella cheese sticks sandwiched between sourdough bread and more cheese. It’s not the healthiest food to eat every day but if you’re looking for a cheese overload this was it. The fried cheese sticks add more texture to the whole dish as each bite explodes with all the cheese it can offer. Sadly, if you want mozzarella sticks between two slices of bread you’ll need to make it at home.

Sizzlin’ Supreme Skillet

The Sizzlin’ Supreme Skillet was made with grilled sausage, fresh spinach, fire-roasted bell peppers and onions, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, and seasoned red-skinned potatoes all tossed in a pre-heated skillet glazed with oil. To finish things off grated Cheddar cheese was sprinkled across the top with two sunnyside-up eggs. It’s a versatile dish that was served as a breakfast menu item that could be ordered all day long.

There are ways to save money at Denny’s if you know the discounts. For example, Denny’s offers senior discounts for those aged 55 and up. Unfortunately, the senior discount amount will vary depending on location. However, if you’re already a member of AARP, you’ll be eligible for 15% off your total check. This is impressive that you’re able to continue saving this much on each visit. On top of that, Denny’s has a 55+ menu with smaller portions and prices that have been adjusted lower.

There used to be a deal at my local Denny’s offering one free breakfast entree after when you ordered a breakfast entree at full-price along with two beverages like coffee. This was an incredible deal that I must have used at least a dozen times over the course of the year. The Cinnamon Roll Pancake is a classic Denny’s menu item that made them famous. They are made with buttermilk and ooze of cinnamon flavor. The best part is that they come with a generous amount of cream cheese sauce drizzled and iced on top.

They are served with hashbrowns, two sunnyside eggs made how you like, and a choice of bacon or sausages.

All-American Slam

You don’t have to choose between bacon or sausages with the All- American Slam dish. Get both and some more! It comes served with three scrambled eggs mixed with cheddar cheese for that extra fluff and flavor, some hashbrowns, and a choice of whole-wheat or white bread.

Loaded Nacho Tots

Applauded as Denny’s best snack item on their menu. It is a plate of tater tots covered in crushed nachos, bacon bits, and shredded cheese. The mixture is then drenched in sour cream and topped with jalapeño slices. I’ve never tried this item myself, but will have to try it during my next visit. 

Is there a secret menu at Denny’s?

Just when you think Denny’s menu couldn’t get any bigger, they even have a secret menu. It features the following dishes.

The closest one can get to achieving a specific diet dish is Denny’s Build Your Own Grand Slam and Build Your Own Sampler. Here you can swap out any food item that does not go according to your diet. While you can’t achieve a full keto, salt-restricted, fat-restricted, or even low-fat diet with the Build Your Own offerings, it does help eliminate any unwanted ingredients from your dish.
