Panda Express is a fast-casual Chinese-themed restaurant founded in the 70s in California. They’re famous for their Orange Chicken and savory Chow Mein dishes. Their entrees are packed with protein and carbs. A good way to enjoy their menu is to order their entrees and top it off with 2 – 3 protein options and seafood to match.

They initially started out as a family-owned fine dining restaurant but evolved into Panda Express to cater to the fast-food industry. Panda Express is even credited with playing a hand in popularizing Chinese takeout boxes. No matter what you’re looking for on the Panda Express menu, I share updated menu prices for 2024 below.

Panda Express upgraded the recipe and replaced it with the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken

Orange Chicken with Bacon

Shiitake Kale Chicken Breast

A bowl that featured chicken breast, kale, shiitake mushrooms, and broccoli. It was a new healthy option at the time of its debut and many customers initially loved it. However, there was one particular downside to the dish. Fans complained of it having more broccoli rather than equal parts of all the ingredients. Thus, the shiitake was overpowered and the whole dish was soon taken out of the picture.

Peking Pork

Similar to Orange Chicken but made with pork. it was an entree dish that served crispy pork chop bites stir-fried with a sweet and sour glaze in a wok along with green bell peppers and onions. The dish itself remains a popular restaurant item in many parts of Asia as a counterpart to the chicken. As for Panda Express, orange pork wasn’t that popular despite having no extremely bad reviews for the flavor itself.

Panda Express is a haven for low-calorie hearty Chinese meals. Their food serving is above average and quite affordable too. In that regard, Panda Express does not offer any student or senior discounts and has no company-wide policy on the matter.

What’s even more surprising is that they do not have a rewards system in place. While it is not uncommon for fast food restaurants to stay traditional, getting deals and discounts from the restaurant can be quite hard unless you regularly watch out for third-party coupon websites and companies to offer such.

Panda Express (and pretty much most Chinese-themed restaurants) claim to fame is their Orange Chicken. It opens doors for more authentic Chinese and oriental flavors to have a pass at your food adventures and prepares you for the wide variety of flavors they offer.

The Orange Chicken is made with battered chicken sauteed in sesame oil along with vinegar, chili flakes, ginger, soy sauce, and sugar. It goes well as a short order or any of their rice side menu. It even goes great with any rice really and is a fulfilling meal to have for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Panda Express did justice to Chinese cuisine with this dish, even for a fast-food restaurant.
