Some extraordinary food truck news came out of last week’s National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.  If you’re looking for a work truck of any sort, a snowplow, a tank truck, street sweeper, a small dump truck or crane, this is your place.  If you need a truck for any job, other than driving on the highway, this is your place.  You can get nearly any kind of truck for any job, except a food truck…  Until now. Last week, Morgan Olson surprised the industry by unveiling their 2018 Foundation Food Truck body at the 2017 NTEA Work Truck Show.

Foundation Food Truck Body Will Change The Food Truck Industry

This truck looks like any other food truck-ready shell waiting for its kitchen installation, but when you look closer, you’ll see the subtle changes and learn about the impact they have on your new build. This industry-changing design is a culmination of food truck market research gathered by Morgan Olson.

In 2016, they held a food truck symposium with many of the nation’s top food truck builders.  It was here in their Sturgis, Michigan office where they all had an open discussion about the true needs of the food truck owner/operator.

“We created the Morgan Olson Foundation Food Truck to provide the best walk-in van body solution for the growing mobile kitchen market,” shares Rich Tremmel, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  “Additionally, the design of the FOUNDATION food truck gives food truck upfitters roughly a 25% head start on building these custom kitchens into these new trucks, which saves production time with upfitters, which in turn saves the food truck owner/operators money.  Morgan Olson values our partnership with all food truck upfitters and owner/operators with the most durable and dependable, long-life, walk-in van body on the market today.”

Key Features of the 2018 Foundation Food Truck

  • 96″ wide body (it’s amazing what an added 3 inches provide).
  • Reinforced side panels (with pre-drilled wire chase holes).
  • Reinforced steel roof beam support (for exhaust fans and ceiling mounted air conditioners).
  • Sedan-style doors (to eliminate awkward pocket door configurations).
  • Reinforced floor (provides strong platform for kitchen appliances and sinks).

These changes, straight from the factory, will reduce retrofitting time by the food truck builder as much as 25 percent.  Morgan Olson went to great lengths to take the “Voice of Customer” and put it into their product by conducting targeted surveys and talking with food truck builders and vehicle dealers on the front lines daily with owner/operators.

We feel this is a giant step forward in the food truck industry.  Morgan Olson recognized a need to bring a better Foundation Food Truck to the builders and made it happen.

This product is scheduled to be in the marketplace in late 2017 or early 2018.  In addition, they will be rolling out accessory packages specifically designed for their new Foundation Food Truck.

The Morgan Olson team is thrilled to start working in this ever-evolving industry and believe that once owner/operators get a feel for this truck, it will be the new standard for food truck kitchen builders.  The feeling of excitement was infectious on the show floor in Indianapolis.  We can’t wait to see these new truck bodies hit the road!
