Dave’s Hot Chicken is a popular restaurant chain known for its spicy Nashville-style hot chicken. Founded by Dave Kroeger in 2017, the restaurant has quickly gained a cult following for its fiery hot chicken sandwiches, tenders, and plates. Dave’s Hot Chicken offers a variety of heat levels, from no spice all the way up to “The Reaper” that requires signing a waiver just to order. Allowing customers to customize their spice level to their preferences is one of the unique elements of dining here.

FAQs about the Dave’s Hot Chicken Menu

What menu items have been discontinued at Dave’s Hot Chicken?

Dave’s Hot Chicken has a tiny menu compared to other chicken chains. Dave’s Hot Chicken gained mainstream success with their delicious chicken tenders and sliders. Since then, the restaurant has not discontinued any menu items since they opened in 2017. As the company tests new menu items this could change in the future.

Are there any discounts you can claim at Dave’s Hot Chicken?

Dave’s Hot Chicken offers a seniors’ discount. If you’re someone who is aged 55 or older, and love spicy chicken, you’ll be pleased to learn you get 15% off on every purchase. Outside of the senior discount, there’s not many ways to get a discount at Dave’s Hot Chicken.

On October 24th, 2022, the company gave a free slider or tender to guests in honor of the rapper Drake’s birthday. In case you didn’t know, Drake became a major investor in the chicken chain back in 2021. The actor Samuel L. Jackson has also invested in the concept, but no word yet if free food will be provided on his birthday too.

I found some limited time promo codes online, but I’m not confident those will work. Feel free to email us if you discover any discounts we should know about and publish here for our readers.

What spice levels are available at Dave’s Hot Chicken?

There are seven distinct spice levels you can order at Dave’s Hot Chicken. Here’s the list:

  • No spice (my wife’s personal favorite)
  • lite mild
  • mild
  • medium (this is my pick)
  • hot
  • extra hot
  • reaper

The reaper flavor is supposed to be extremely hot. I’m personally too scared to try it. You actually need to sign a waiver releasing the company from all liability before you can even order it. Pretty crazy! If I ever get the stones to give it a try I’ll post a video about it here for your viewing pleasure.

The reaper flavor gets the name from the Carolina reaper pepper, officially known as the world’s hottest pepper. Surprisingly, the flavor is described as fruity and insanely hot. The kind of hot that sticks in your mouth and doesn’t leave no matter what you drink or eat. I’ll pass for now.

What are the most popular menu items at Dave’s Hot Chicken?

As mentioned a couple of times earlier, Dave’s Hot Chicken only has a small menu; the highlight of which is their Nashville Hot Chicken.

Having said that, they offer two options for your main dish: Chicken Tenders and Chicken Sliders, both featuring extremely juicy chicken with the option to choose the level of hotness – from No Spice to Reaper. Both items are popular among fans of the chain.

Are there any menu items for specialty diets or gluten-free?

The coleslaw and gluten free fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer. But keep in mind that Dave’s Hot Chicken does not have a dedicated area to prepare gluten free food so there could be cross contamination.

Of course, the line-up of beverages is also gluten-free. This list includes Coca-Cola products, Hi C, Powerade, Sprite, Fanta and Gold Peak Sweet Tea flavors.

Unfortunately, Dave’s Hot Chicken does not offer any other menu item for those on a special diets. After all this is a fried chicken joint. All the chicken and sandwich items contain gluten. There is online speculation more gluten-free menu items coming in the future. I’ll be the first to let you know if this does happen.

Who is the target audience of this restaurant’s menu?

Dave’s Hot Chicken menu often caters to men aged 18 to 35 with a mix of African-American, Latino, Asian, and whites. On top of that, the restaurant is also doing well in the area of food delivery, which helped the business grow by 12% during the health crisis, according to Forbes.

In addition to hot chicken, the menu also includes sides such as macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and fries. Dave’s Hot Chicken has locations in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Las Vegas.

While the company got their start as a humble pop-up stand in East Hollywood, it feels like this concept is going to hit the big time and grow into a nationally recognized chain.
