What menu items have been discontinued at McDonald’s?

McDonald’s has been pretty inventive when it comes to amping up its menu from time to time. Despite their ambition, certain food items just didn’t click. Whether due to a pandemic, evolving public health and safety laws, terrible marketing, or simply horrendous gastronomic experiments— the Golden Arches sure know trial and error to the core!

  1. McPizza – Still served in Orlando, Florida
  2. McSpaghetti – Still served in the Philippines
  3. Arch Deluxe – McDonald’s hot take on serving haute cuisine. Discontinued shortly after it debuted.
  4. Szechuan Sauce
  5. McDLT – A burger served in a special styrofoam container that separated the patty from the lettuce and tomato, following their advertisement “the hot stays hot” and “the cool stays cool”.
  6. Hula Burger – Cheese and pineapple slices between two buns, crafted by founder Ray Kroc himself. If franchise owner, Lou Groen, didn’t compete on a friendly bet against Ray Kroc, with his Filet-O-Fish, we’d be seeing this abomination of a burger in the stores today.

Other discontinued Golden Arches items:

  • McHotdog
  • Fish McBites
  • Onion Nuggets
  • Snickerdoodle McFlurry
  • Fruit and Walnut Salad
  • Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich
  • Mighty Wings
  • Big n Tasty
  • Fruit and Yogurt Parfait
  • Bagels
  • Chicken Tenders
  • Salads
  • Beef Tallow Fries

Are there any discounts you can claim at McDonald’s? (Senior discounts, student discounts, birthday discounts, coupons?)

Select McDonald’s franchises offer Senior senior discounts, however, there is no longer a company-wide policy governing this. Discretion for the senior discount depends on the location, local laws, and franchise owner.

They do offer deals through their websites and mobile app, or their MyMcDonald’s Rewards program. Redemption of deals is typically one deal per person, per visit. And the perks vary accordingly.

Are there any menu items for specialty diets? (Examples: keto, low calorie, vegan, vegetarian, low calorie)

McDonald’s isn’t currently serving any specialty diets, however, a select few of their menu items can pass off as vegetarian treats like their oatmeal item. Other than that, those on a strict diet can enjoy the following items that are below 350 calories:

Who is the target audience of this restaurant’s menu?

McDonald’s generally serves lower and middle-class consumers; students and workers who are in need of quick, cheap, and convenient food that complement their busy schedules and tight budgets.

The first McDonald’s store was founded in 1940 in San Bernardino, California. It still stands today as a museum– mind you. At first, they were a BBQ joint, until they switched their menu to include burgers, shakes, potato chips, and pies.

Today, thousands of local franchisees regularly include fusion meals and dishes customary to the country the store is in. This means, there is a McDonald’s version of at least one local dish you could think of for any country where a McDonald’s is found.

Have the prices at the McDonald’s Menu Gone Up in 2023?

Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. The prices of everything on the McDonald’s menu have gone up more than 100% on some menu items last past two decades. Here are a few examples of the cost of McDonald’s food then and now.

  • Happy Meal: $2.39
  • Hamburger: $0.89
  • Cheeseburger: $1.05
  • Big Mac: $2.45

  • Happy Meal: $3.69 (54% increase)
  • Hamburger: $2.49 (179% increase)
  • Cheeseburger: $2.79 (165% increase)
  • Big Mac: $3.99 (62% increase)

Of course, I can’t think of anything that’s held the same price between 1990s and today. From gasoline to eggs to bread, everything costs more now than it did back then.
