Yogurtland is considered one of the pioneers in the modeler fro-yo industry getting its start back in 2006 with their first shop in Fullerton, CA. I lived nearby the shop during this time period and experienced first hand the excitement about this innovative concept where you could go get soft-serve topped with any dessert topping and fruit you liked.

Fast forward only a few years and dozens of similar concepts started popping up everywhere across Southern California and then across the United States.

How are you charged at Yogurtland?

Never been to a Yogurtland? The process can be a little confusing if you’re not familiar with the concept. I’ve visited Yogurtland many times and can explain the entire process.

• Upon entry, grab a cup and head straight to the soft-serve machine (or combination of machines) and  fill the cup as high as you would like. If you want to sample some of the flavors, you can do so by asking any employee for a small sample spoon. This gives you just a taste of any flavor you’d like at no charge.
• Next, fill the cup with as much or as little yogurt as they desired. You can can mix multiple flavors if you would like.
• After selecting the yogurt, head on over to the toppings buffet customers where you can add granola, fresh fruit, and various sauces.
• Once you’ve filled a cup with yogurt and toppings, take it to the counter to be weighed by an employee on a digital scale. The higher the weight, the more you’ll pay. It’s not uncommon to be charged anywhere between $8 – $12 per cup depending on how big you fill it.
• The price is charged per ounce. The cost per ounce typically ranges between $0.30 and $0.50.

After the cup is weighed, you’ll complete the payment and be handed a colorful spoon by a Yogurtland employee. Then all you need to do is kick back and enjoy what you created.

No. The fruit toppings and syrups at Yogurtland are not organic. If this ever changes, I’ll be the first to let you know.
