Product Review: Hoo Rag

The folks at Hoo-Rag recently contacted us asking if we would be interested in trying their product and provide a review here at Mobile Cuisine. We had never heard of Hoo-Rag before, so we investigated their website and found it interesting and relevant to those who work in the food service industry, including food trucks so we told them that we would be happy to try it out.

Food truck vendors operate their trucks in extreme conditions no matter what city they call home. Wherever these culinary entrepreneurs set up shop, they are typically working in compact and hot kitchens throughout the year. During the winter months many still have to deal with the heat of the kitchen, while others spend time outside of their trucks taking orders or rallying crowds to sell their fare to and battling the wind and cold.

Mobile chefs usually wear some type of head cover to protect themselves and the food they are preparing. Using the Hoo Rag on your head or around your neck allows the product to absorb excess sweat and to wipe your face with or will protect the food you are preparing from the contamination of stray hairs.

Hoo Rags are a seamless bandana. The material they’re made of has some stretch to it, but it’s taunt enough to be worn in various of ways. From our testing, the material also seems to do a good job of wicking away sweat. They come in an endless variety of styles and colors, and you can even have them custom-made with your food truck’s logo on them.

Claiming to be the “better bandana” the Hoo-Rag is made from seamless cotton-polyester blend micro-fiber that is light weight and moisture wicking. You can use them as a traditional bandana, beanie, neck gaiter, and more. The Hoo-Rag is a perfect addition to a food trucker’s wardrobe.

The material used for this product keeps you warm in the cold weather and cool in the heat.  Whether you spend most of your time in a hot food truck kitchen or outside the truck selling from your menu and taking orders we highly recommend the Hoo-Rag for its function and style.

Dandelions Coffee Truck will be rolling out in March or April. I’m in CT so I will have those lovely muggy July days and wicked cold January ones. I went to Hoo Rag’s site and watched the video. I can see me doin’ “the pirate” in the Summer and balaclava in the Winter. I’d def love to win one of these.
