IHOP does not fall short when it comes to menu innovation. But as trends come and go, so do some of their menu items. Below is a list of discontinued IHOP items that are easy to forget, mostly because they already have great alternatives on their regular menu.

Are there any discounts or hacks you can claim at IHOP for free pancakes?

There’s a large stack of ways you can earn free pancakes and save money on every visit to IHOP. But you’ve got to know how to leverage all the different promotions to save the most money.

To get better deals at IHOP, you can sign up for the new loyalty program called the International Bank of Pancakes. The program is a slightly confusing crypto inspired platform where you earn PanCoins (their version of points) that can be redeemed for free food. Other perks include free birthday pancakes, exclusive offers, secret menu offerings, and more so you’ll want to sign up to save. 

This program replaces the “MyHop” rewards program where you could get coupons and a coupon for free pancakes when you joined. Sorry… That program is no longer available.

Here’s a short explanation on how PanCoins work. For every $5 you spend, you earn 1 PanCoin. Once you reach 3 PanCoins (AKA crypto pancakes) in your app they can be redeemed for a short-stack of 3 buttermilk pancakes. If you have 5 PanCoins, you’ll can get a large stack of 5 buttermilk pancakes for free.

But that’s not all! You can also spend your PanCoins in the “Stack Market” within the IHOP app to get merchandise or other menu items. It’s unclear if this crypto themed pancake promotion will last. It sounds like an idea a lot of younger and creative people in a marketing department came up with. I bet most diners at IHOP aren’t familiar with the intricacies of crypto currency language.

Looking for a simpler and less technical way to save money? I’d suggest visiting any store during their IHOPPY Hour. This happy hour promotion runs Monday – Friday from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. There are limited and changing menu items on this list, but they can help you save between 20% – 30% on a meal.

Did you know that February 21st, 2023, is National Pancake Day? IHOP is celebrating by offering dine-in guests a free short stack of pancakes between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The restaurant offers this promotion annually where the restaurant encourages guests to donate to a variety of children’s hospitals like Shriner Children’s and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This is a fantastic way to save money and pay it forward to kids in need.

As of writing, IHOP does not have an official policy on student discounts, and availing of such can be done through third-party discount or voucher providers. They also do not have a senior discount, however, does have a menu specifically for seniors called the IHOP 55+ Menu which is basically the same as getting a discount. You’ll find lower prices and smaller portions on the 55+ menu. 

Kids Still Eat Free at IHOP in 2023 

There aren’t as many kids eat free restaurants as there used to be when we were kids. But IHOP is continuing the tradition by offering kids 12 and under a free meal with the purchase of a full-priced adult meal.

Kids can choose from one of seven kids menu items on the menu. Everything from the Silver Five to the Jr. Chicken Strips Dinner is eligible. You’ll save from $8.99 – $9.99 depending on what your child orders.  See the full kids menu options here.

Who is the target audience of IHOP’s menu?

IHOP’s target market is people of all ages given their Kids under 12 menu and their 55+ menu. They are looking to cater to anyone who enjoys an all-day breakfast meal with reasonable prices to go with it.

Aside from pancakes, they have expanded their menu to include burgers, sandwiches, waffles, and even entree items like salmon, steaks, and turkey. Their breakfast combos are a hit among fans as well which include eggs done your way, up to 6 types of meat you can choose from, and a good serving of hashbrowns to complete the combo. When dining out at any of their stores, you can expect to have a ton of syrups to choose from for your pancake and breakfast orders.
