Morton’s Steakhouse has discontinued a number of menu items over the four decades they’ve been in business. Here are a few menu items that have been removed over the years.
- Peppercorn Steak: This was a grilled New York strip steak that was topped with a peppercorn sauce.
- Filet Mignon Oscar: This was a filet mignon that was topped with asparagus, shrimp, and a hollandaise sauce.
- Lobster Mashed Potatoes: These were mashed potatoes that were made with lobster meat. You may be able to make a special request if you want to order this item.
- Chocolate Lava Cake: This was a chocolate cake that was filled with a molten chocolate center. As an alternative, you could sample Morton’s Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake® instead. This is a rich and decadent chocolate cake made with bittersweet chocolate, butter, and eggs. The Hot Chocolate Cake is served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle of chocolate sauce.
Morton’s Steakhouse doesn’t always make a public announcement when discontinuing menu items. In some cases, Morton’s Steakhouse discontinues an an item to make room for new items.

Morton’s Steakhouse does have a happy hour. But it’s called the “Power Hour.”
The happy hour specials are available from 4pm to 7pm on Sunday through Thursday and from 4pm to 6pm on Friday. The happy hour specials are only available at the bar, not in the dining room so make sure to request the appropriate seating
Morton’s Steakhouse offers a variety of Power Hour specials at Bar 12 – 21, including:
- $5.50 select beer (Coor’s Light or Budweiser on tap)
- $7.50 wines by the glass
- $8.50 martinis and cocktails

As you can see from a percentage standpoint, you’ll save the most by ordering Thick Cut Onion Rings during Power Hour with a discount of 38% or $7. From a dollar standpoint, also save $7 when you order The Original Morton’s Prime Burger or Shrimp Louie Wedge Bites. Hands down, visiting Morton’s Steakhouse during Power Hour is the best way to save money.

If you’re looking for more ways to save money, I suggest buying gift cards in bulk. Morton’s Steakhouse publicly states on their website that when you buy gift cards in denominations of $500 or more you get a bonus added to the card. If you spend $500 – $2,499, you’ll get a 5% bonus with gift cards. If you spend over $2,500, you’ll get a 10% bonus.
Is there a Rewards Program at Morton’s Steakhouse?
The loyalty program at Morton’s Steakhouse is called Landry’s Select Club. This is a program that allows you to generate rewards and points at more than 600 restaurant locations and a variety of different concepts including Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Cadillac Bar among other concepts.
The nice aspect about joining Landry’s Select Club is you can generate rewards at a variety of different restaurant you may visit. But signing up isn’t free. You’ll need to pay $25.00 to join the for the club for membership to the program.

After joining the club, you’ll get a $25 coupon that can be used on your next visit to a restaurant within the Landry’s Select Club network. You’ll get another $25 coupon for your birthday as well so there’s a net benefit to joining the program. This is not one of those membership programs where you need to rejoin each year either. This is a one-time fee only.
In addition to the annual coupon, you’ll earn 1 point for each dollar you spend at a qualifying restaurant. Once you reach 250 points or $250 in total spend, you get another coupon valued at $25. This means you’ll be saving 10% off your receipt just for joining the club.
There are other perks you get by joining the program like discounts at Landry’s hotels in Texas or stays at The Golden Nugget. If you’re going to be dining at Morton’s Steakhouse anyway, joining the club is a no brainer.
Morton’s Steakhouse rotate different off-menu items that are frequently called secret menu items by social media influencers. They usually offer a “Dinner for Two” deal that changes every month or so. Make sure to ask your server about any Dinner or Two options before you order.
