Penn Station East Coast Subs has 317 stores operating across 15 states. The menu item that put this chain on the map was the cheesesteak sandwich, which was one of only four original menu items. What makes Penn Station different is the sandwiches are prepared right in front of the customers with ingredients being selected on a printed order slip and handed to an employee.

FAQs about the Penn Station Menu
What menu items have been discontinued at Penn Station?
Two menu items at Penn Station have been officially discontinued. Sadly, you can no longer order a Sausage Sub with Pizza Sauce and their Chicken Salad. The former was a big hit when it was still available.
One other thing discontinued by Penn Station was their mobile app and points-based loyalty program back in 2020. Penn Station cited challenges related to the pandemic as the reason they stopped this program.
Are there any coupons or BOGO sub offers you can claim at Penn Station?
One way to save money at Penn Station is by joining the E-Club. When you register, you’ll get a coupon for a buy one, get one free sub sandwich reward.
There are also regularly updated coupons on the rewards page here. You can print off these coupons or use a coupon code to claim the discount. One coupon found on this page was for a $5.99 Chicken Philly Special valid in the store and online.
Penn Station phased out their loyalty rewards program back in 2020 due to the pandemic. So there’s no way to save using this strategy. Unfortunatley, there is no company-wide policy on student or senior discounts at Penn Station.
What are the most popular menu items at Penn Station?
Also known as the Chicken Philly Cheesesteak this sandwich never fails to impress new and old customers of Penn Station. The signature dish consists of sautéed onions, fresh mushrooms, banana peppers, spicy brown mustard, mayo, and pizza sauce. These are the perfectly combined ingredients that have kept the restaurant afloat all these years. And you’ll wish the famous East Coast Subs would have a store popping up on every corner you see.
Chicken Teriyaki Sandwich
Just like the Cheese Steak, the Teriyaki Sandwich found under their Off The Grill menu receives high markets. A stark mix of just chicken breast, Swiss cheese, and teriyaki sauce with a choice to add other toppings was enough to provoke many first-time customers to post glowing reviews on Yelp and other reviewing sites.

Reuben is another Off The Grill popular menu item. This sandwich can come grilled, cold, rolled up in a wrap, or transformed into a salad. This meal is a union of slow-roasted corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese. You can choose to add a thousand island dressing or request the dressing on the side.

Are there any Penn Station menu items for specialty diets?
Vegetarians can order the Veggie Subs straight off the menu without customization. Veggie Subs come grilled, cold, wrapped, as a lighter option or salad. And because you have the power to remove or add ingredients, you can always ask to have the meat removed from any of their subs and replace them with any of their veggie extras. You can also choose to have either white or multi-grain bread.
As for vegans, the teriyaki sauce is known to be vegan-friendly. Other hacks include kindly asking the register to have a Veggie sub free of their buttery oil. Manage your expectation with this hack though since Penn Station’s prized premium oil plays a big part in keeping their bread chewy, tasty, and intact. They have yet to offer a vegan alternative to their oil in stores.

Who is the target audience of Penn Station’s menu?
Penn Station became famous for what they call “East Coast Subs”. They bring fresh, quality ingredients and superb recipes of classic American subs to the table. With that in mind, their customers have turned into loyal fans who swear by the taste and quality of their food.
Penn Station has no particular age or class demographic target. However, with the onslaught of digital marketing platforms and advertising, it’s safe to say they are aggressively marketing to the 20 – 40 year old demographic.
The Penn Station menu has grown to include deli classic sandwiches, dagwoods, wraps, and salads. Of course, their cheesesteak sandwich remains as popular as ever. Other favorites include the cold-cut Italian, fries, turkey avocado, and reuben.
